Biography of Dr. Asghar Arabian
Public Prosecutor of the Supreme Audit Court

Dr. Asghar Arabian has got a PhD in jurisprudence and Islamic law. He was elected by the majority vote of members of the Parliament as the Public Prosecutor of Supreme Audit Court on Wednesday 9 July 2008 for one term; He finished high school in 1981 in Hamedan and became a member of Revolutionary Guard in Kordestan Province at same year. Dr. Arabian came to Tehran in 1985 to follow his studies for a BA degree, and in 1990 having passed MA entrance examination to university, started his law profession in the Judiciary. Until 1997 he held position in Saqez, Baneh, and Sanandaj cities as Public Prosecutor of the Islamic Revolutionary Court, Head of Penal Court of Justice, Head of Public Court, Head of Court of Appeals, and also Deputy of Director General of Provincial Justice Administration. Having transferred to Tehran, he held some supervisory positions in the Judiciary as well as General Inspection Organization (GIO) in Tehran Province as well as in headquarters of GIO, where he held position as Director General of Supervision and Inspection. Finally, in seventh term of Parliament, the Commission on Budget and Audit of Parliament elected him as the member and Head of first Judiciary Board of the Supreme Audit Court. At the beginning of eighth term of Parliament, the commission on Budget and Audit nominated him for the position of Public Prosecutor of Supreme Audit Court where he could win 15 votes out of a maximum of 19 cast by commissioners. Upon this primary approval, he was elected as Public Prosecutor of the Supreme Audit Court for a 4 year term by the Parliament with 205 positive ballots. Dr. Arabian is the member of teaching staff of Oloom va Tahghighat university and is active in research activities. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Danesh-e-Hesabrasi magazine. He is a member of editorial board of Feqh va Hoghoogh magazine, a member of Jahad Daneshgahi Educational Institution of Tehran University and a member of the Research Committee on the first national report prepared by National Youth Organization.
